Therapy for Military Spouses in Texas
You can be proud of your military family and still feel exhausted by military life.
Being a military spouse can mean constantly adapting.
New duty stations. Deployments. Solo parenting. Changes in plans. Starting over in unfamiliar places. Building new friendships and support systems, only to have to do it again. And sometimes trying to figure out who you are while so much of life revolves around the needs of your family.
You can love your spouse and still struggle with the realities of military life.
You can be grateful and still feel overwhelmed.
You can be strong and still need support.
Therapy for the parts of military life that don't always get talked about
I work with women and military spouses navigating the emotional challenges that can come with military life, including:
Anxiety and constant worry
Stress and burnout
Deployment and reintegration
Solo parenting and the mental load
Motherhood and identity changes
Feeling disconnected from yourself
Frequent moves and major life transitions
Relationship and communication challenges
Difficulty building a support system
Guilt, overwhelm, or feeling like you have to hold everything together
Finding your identity outside of being a spouse or mom
Therapy isn't about telling you how you should feel about military life. It's a place to slow down, sort through what you're carrying, and figure out what you need.
A personal connection to the military spouse experience
I was a military spouse myself.
Although my spouse has since separated from the military, my experience as a military spouse gave me a personal understanding of how much military life can shape a family, a relationship, and your own sense of identity.
That experience is one reason I value working with military spouses. I know that military life isn't just about deployments or moving from one duty station to another. It can affect your routines, relationships, friendships, plans for the future, parenting, and the way you see yourself.
As a therapist, I bring that personal understanding alongside my clinical training. You don't have to explain why something that seems small to someone else feels like a really big deal to you.
When you're used to being the one who handles everything
Military spouses are often expected to adapt.
You figure out the new house. You find the schools. You make new friends. You manage things while your spouse is away. You keep the family moving forward when plans change.
Eventually, "I can handle it" can become less of a choice and more of an expectation.
Therapy can give you somewhere to put some of that weight down.
We can work together to understand what's contributing to your anxiety or overwhelm, identify patterns that aren't serving you anymore, and find ways to make life feel more manageable without losing the parts of yourself that matter to you.
